One woman shared a video from her gender reveal party: the excited couple is ready to announce the baby’s sex, confetti poppers in hand, when suddenly the mother-in-law steps between them.

“I took a pregnancy test!” she announces, oblivious to the shocked faces around her. “I’m pregnant!” she adds, completely hijacking the moment from the soon-to-be parents. “Is she joking?” the bride asks, glancing at the seated grandfather.

Ignoring the obvious distress of the couple, the woman continues: “Now our children can play together!” When asked why she chose this particular moment, she says she’s waited too long and simply cannot keep the news to herself, especially with all the family gathered.

She goes on about how thrilled she is to be a mother again, yet no one is rushing to congratulate her. Even her husband sides with the young couple, explaining he had warned her that this wasn’t the right time for the announcement — but she ignored him and “stole” the moment. Feeling slighted, she leaves the party, declaring that her husband and son “always try to make me do what they want.”

Online, she was criticized for her poor timing, relentless need to be the center of attention, and total disregard for others’ feelings. “Some people just think they’re the main character,” one commenter wrote.
